GENERAL ADMISSION PROCEDURES.

GENERAL  ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND PROCEDURES.

There are total number of seven (6) schools, with total number of 7 Courses presently run in Pilar  College of Health Technology, Campus.  These courses include, but not limited to the following, because additional course or courses may be included in the nearest future:

  1. School of General Health Technician
  2. School of Pharmacy Technician
  3. School of Medical Laboratory Technician
  4. School of Community Health Extension Workers program (Junior and Senior CHEW)
  5. Health Assistant/Health Technician/Nursing Technician
  6. School of Health Information Management (HIM)
  7. School of Environmental Health Technology (OND/HND)

Admission into all these programs is strictly by sitting for an entrance examination, after obtaining Application Form (hard or soft copy) and after the candidate has been screened through the entry equivalent result(s) attached (Details in the Entrance Requirements).

COURSES AND THEIR ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

S/N COURSES ENTRY REQUIREMENTS COURSE DURATION AND CERTIFICATES AWARD
01 Nursing Technician SSCE Certificate with Credit Passes in Five(5) Subjects at not more than two sittings, which must include: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology 3 Years, that is Six Semesters. Certificate in Nursing Technician.
02 Health Assistant This is a two year programme with an entrance requirement as stated above. 2 Years, that is Four Semesters. Certificate in Health Assistant (Junior)
03 Health Technician Minimum of Lower Credit grade in Health Assistanship from a known College of Health Technology  with the evidence of one year Industrial Training experience in a reputable Organization Two Years, that is Four Semesters. National Certificate with Board Certification.
04 Community Health Extension Workers Programme (J – CHEW) An entry requirements of 3 or 4 Credit Passes in the major science subjects with English and Mathematics.   Deficiency in one of the Science Subjects may be waved. Two Years, that is Four Semesters.  Junior Certificate in CHEW.
05 Community Health Extension Workers (S – CHEW) Programme. Minimum of Lower Credit grade from a reputable College of Health Technology in Nigeria in either J – CHEW or Health Assistant.   OR 5 Credit passes, which must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology Two Years, that is Four Semesters. National Certificate with Board Certification.
06 Medical Laboratory Technician 5 Credit passes in SSCE/NECO/GCE OR equivalent certificate in not more than two sittings, which must include English Lang; mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Three Years, that is Six Semesters.  Certificate in Medical Laboratory

Technician with Board Certification.

07 Pharmacy Technician As above. As above.  Certificate in Pharmacy  Technician with Board Certification.
08 Environmental Health Technician  A two year programme which precede another two year to study Environmental Health Technology.  5 Credit passes in major science subjects including Mathematics and English Lang. Two years, that is Four Semesters. OND Certificate.
09 Environmental Health Technology Minimum of Lower Credit grade in a reputable College of Health Technology with evidence of a year Industrial Training experience in well known establishment. Two years HND programme, that is Four Semesters.  Higher National Diploma Certificate with one year NYSC programme.
10 Health Information Management (HIM) 5 Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Computer/Data Processing.  Proficiency in Computer programming is an added advantage. Three year, that is Six Semesters.  Certificate in Health Information Management with National Board Certification.

After a candidate has satisfied the Examination Board of the College in both written and oral examinations, a letter of Admission will then be issued, as first step to offer a Provisional Admission.  This admission is confirmed after the payment of stipulated amount of money as an Acceptance Fee.

The first week of resumption at the College is a busy one, because that is the Registration week for all students who have accepted the Provisional Admission given to them by the College authority.  The second week of resumption is the time to start lectures in earnest, which is also combined with the orientation and induction programme for the newly admitted students.

As the College resumes for the New Session, the Matriculation Programme is always scheduled to hold in the third week of resumption, when the newly admitted students will be officially inducted to the College, witnessed by family members of the students, Management body of the College, Representatives from the Mother – College, Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology, Eleyele, Ibadan and all well wishers.

The Convocation Programme of the College in the previous years went along with the Matriculation exercise of the fresh students.  This witnessed the awards of excellent performances and best students laurel to deserving ones.
