Admission Requirements
Thank you for your interest in studying at Pilar College of Health Technology. Admission requirements differ according to programme. Applicants must ensure that they meet the approved academic and programme-specific requirements before applying.

General Application Guidelines
Applicants must:
- Provide accurate personal and contact information.

- Select the correct programme and admission session.
- Upload clear copies of all requested documents.
- Review the application carefully before submitting it.
- Make payments only through payment channels officially approved by the college.
- Keep evidence of application and payment.
- Present original documents during screening and registration.
Documents Applicants May Be Required to Provide
- Recent passport photograph.
- O’Level result or certificate.
- Birth certificate or declaration of age.
- Local government or state-of-origin documentation where required.
- Previous academic or professional qualification where applicable.
- Application-payment evidence.
- Any additional document required for the selected programme.
Selection Process
Depending on the programme and admission session, eligible applicants may be invited for an entrance examination, interview, document screening or other assessment.
Information about the date, venue and requirements for any assessment will be communicated through the admissions portal, email, telephone or other approved college channels.
Important Notice
Meeting the minimum entry requirements does not automatically guarantee admission. Admission is subject to document verification, programme capacity and compliance with the requirements of the college and the applicable regulatory body.
Programme-Specific Requirements
Nursing Technician
Entry Qualification
- Academically qualified Health Assistant who has been on the grade for a minimum of 2 years.
- A candidate who possesses five (5) passes in English, Mathematics, Biology or Health Science, and any other two (2) subjects in WAEC or NECO at not more than two (2) sittings.
- A candidate who possesses a certificate in Auxiliary Nursing training with two years experience.
Duration: 3 academic sessions (6 semesters).
Qualification Awarded: Diploma for Nursing Technician.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW)
Entry Qualification
- For advancement of confirmed, academically qualified Junior Community Health Extension Worker who has been on the grade for a minimum of 2 years.
- Four credit level passes at WAEC, NECO or GCE O’Level at not more than two sittings. These must include:
- Biology or Health Science.
- One subject chosen from Chemistry, Food & Nutrition, Physics and Geography.
- Two subjects chosen from Economics, Accounts, Commerce, Agricultural Science and Social Sciences.
- Credit in English Language and Mathematics is compulsory.
Duration: 3 calendar years.
Qualification Awarded: Diploma in Community Health.
Junior Community Health Extension Worker (JCHEW)
Entry Qualification
- A candidate should possess five (5) passes in English, Mathematics, Biology or Health Science and any other two (2) subjects in WAEC/GCE or NECO at not more than two sittings, and must be domiciled in the local government area.
- Existing workers such as ward orderlies, ward maids and health attendants in a health facility who possess the qualifications stated above may be eligible, subject to institutional assessment and support from their employing establishment.
- Applicants should be willing to reside and work within a rural community as part of understanding community norms and identifying local health needs.
Duration: 2 calendar years.
Qualification Awarded: Certificate in Community Health.
Pharmacy Technician
Entry Requirements for New Students
For admission, a candidate should have at least five (5) credits, which must include English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in any of GCE, WAEC, SSCE, NECO or NABTEB at not more than two (2) sittings.
Duration of Programme
The programme shall last three (3) years, comprising the first one and a half years for classroom and laboratory teaching, the next six months for practical experiences (four months in hospital and two months in the Community Pharmacy setting) and the last one year for classroom and laboratory teaching.
